Gana Makabeni, trade union leader and member of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress (ANC) in the 1940s, died in the Western Native Township, Johannesburg. He died a batchelor after a short illness and was buried at the Croesus Cemetery in Newclare, Johannesburg.
