On 6 April 2009, the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) celebrates it 50th anniversary. The Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), which was later called the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania, was a South African liberation movement that later became a political party. The PAC remains an active party, with Letlapa Mphahlele as its current president.
The PAC was founded in 1959 after a number of members broke away from the African National Congress (ANC) because of various ideological and theoretical differences.
