ANC caucus statement on death of Adelaide Tambo, 01 February 2007

ANC Members of Parliament from both the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces, who began the three day National Caucus Lekgotla this morning, received with deep sense of loss news on the death of struggle icon and one of our movement`s veterans, Adelaide Tambo.

A moment of silence was held in tribute to Adelaide Tambo`s unflagging dedication to the eradication of the oppressive regime and her contribution to the building of South Africa`s democracy, through among others, her role as a Member of Parliament.

Caucus expressed its heartfelt condolences to the Tambo family, friends, relatives and the African National Congress on this sad loss.
