The heart of a lioness has ceased to beat. Mama Nokukhanya Luthuli is no more. Comrade Nokukhanya Luthuli, 92 years old, was the wife of the late ANC President, Chief Albert Luthuli. She passed away yesterday night at Groutville near Stanger. Yet Nokukhanya was a freedom fighter on her own right.
The ANC deeps its revolutionary banner to this great patroit, heroine and Titan. She may rest in peace for the seeds of her struggle and that of her organisation, the ANC, are beginning to germinate. South Africa is free. Few days ago President Mandela signed into law a democratic constitution for South Africa.
The ANC sends its deepest condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the Luthuli family.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
