Aziz Pahad, SA Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, was born in Schweizer Reneke, Western Transvaal (North West Province). Pahad had been a m ember of the National Executive (NEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) since 1985. A banning order was served on him, which restricted his movements and prevented him from attending public gatherings.
