Library and clinic names are changed in Pretoria

The name of the Mid-City Library (Sammy Marks), city library of Pretoria, was changed to Es'kia Mphahlele Community Library and the Sammy Marks Clinic to the FF Ribeiro Clinic in ceremonies at the Sammy Marks Square. Prof. Ezekiel (Es'kia) Mphahlele was professor of African Literature at the University of the Witwatersrand and has published short stories, essays and novels dealing with issues of race and South Africa's changing society. The FF Ribeiro Clinic was named after Dr Fabian and Ms Florence Ribeiro, who were killed in a joint Security Branch and SADF Special Forces operation in December 1986.
