Awards
1960s - 1970s
This list is not complete but it gives an indication of the wide variety of forms of recognition accorded to Nelson Mandela throughout the world. It shows too how this recognition steadily grew and how the calls for his release intensified during the years of his imprisonment. As new - and old - honours, awards etc. come to our attention they will be added to this list. Many others have never been granted 'official' recognition and thus may never become known. Please refer to the contents on the right to view the different years.
